About SIBO NOLA
Near the end of my conventional medical training I came to the realization that a prescription heavy style of medicine was not enough to help my patients heal from chronic disease. After struggling to figure out how to help them, I eventually found the growing field of functional medicine, which emphasizes treating the root causes of illnesses. I began offering these tools to my patients, and while not everything that I was taught was helpful, I found that that a functional approach was extremely helpful to those with SIBO.
Since then, I’ve been treating patients using a blend of functional and conventional medicine for over a decade. After using this blend of approaches in a variety of different places, I realized that my perspective is different from both conventional and functional medicine doctors. I see that many conventional doctors do not understand how important diet, lifestyle and supplements are to helping their patients - or just don’t have the time to implement these tools with their patients. At the same time, I see problems in integrative medicine where practitioners are trained to treat unreliable lab tests with huge amounts of supplements - leaving their patients with ineffective treatment plans with huge price tags.
After repeatedly seeing success with SIBO patients when other approaches had failed, and after realizing how much information is being spread online by people without medical licenses, I came up with the idea of creating a website to give suffering patients reliable information from the perspective of a practicing physician. I see this information on this page as a simpler roadmap to treating SIBO, and I’d like this model to be more widely used.
This information on this site comes from my experience treating patients, as well as my own study of the medical literature. It is not the absolute authority on all things SIBO, we have much to learn! Please understand that this site does not personal medical advice, but a summary of general principles that I hope will be helpful to you when working with your your doctor.
I hope this page gives you a roadmap to finally finding relief from SIBO.

A Note on Supplements and SIBO
There is a growing problem in integrative and functional medicine where practitioners generate income by selling the the supplements and lab tests they recommend to their patients. I think this practice is unethical because practitioners tend to recommend more that a patient needs to heal when they make more money. Practitioners directly selling supplements is one reason that SIBO treatment has gotten so complicated, and difficult for patients in integrative and functional medicine clinics. I have spent a lot of time on this site because I want people suffering from SIBO to understand that feeling better just doesn’t have to be that hard.
However, there are a few supplements that I have mentioned on this site, so I want to take a moment to disclose how I approach supplements in my medical office.
I recommend supplements to my patients from a company called Moss Nutrition. Moss is a family owned business that has earned my trust over many years by formulating excellent and safe products that consistently help to heal. To avoid the conflict of interest presented above, my patients are entitled to 30% off all supplements from Moss Nutrition. This discount comes out of my pocket from a commission typically paid to practitioners. I do this so that my patients trust I am recommending treatments that I think will help them, rather than having to worry that I’m just trying to sell them supplements.
Similarly I want someone reading this site to similarly trust that the information presented here comes from a desire to share the solutions that have worked with my patients over many years. That’s why there are no ads on this site, no endorsement of labs or email collection for marketing purposes.
